Supporting Children’s Adventure Farm Trust - £2,500 Donated by the O.S.M.

Supporting Children’s Adventure Farm Trust - £2,500 Donated by the O.S.M.

The third trip out of the week disbursing funds involved a trip to Millington, just outside of Altrincham. Set in rural Cheshire we find The Children’s, Adventure Farm Trust.

One of the main charitable targets for the year of the Order of the Secret Monitor in Cheshire & North Wales, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust was nominated by Verney Clayton Conclave No. 45. Through various efforts and collections throughout the year, plus a contribution from the O.S.M. Benevolent Fund, the Province was able to donate £2,500 to the Charity. CAFT is a registered charity that provides day trips, residential breaks and seasonal activities for children across the North West whose lives may be impacted by illness, complex medical needs, special educational needs, disability and social disadvantage. All services are provided free.

The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust is based at the beautiful Booth Bank Farm, a 17th Century farmhouse set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, and covers a 10 acre site.

CAFT was established in 1985 by Tim Grundy, son of broadcaster Bill Grundy, and continued association with celebrities when Sir Bobby Charlton became President in 2000. Jason Manford has recently taken over the role.

CAFT now provides a wide range of experiences and engagements for children of all abilities. The funding from the Order of the Secret Monitor will help to develop the Sound Wall in the woodland. The current wall, pictured, consists of lids, pans and sticks. The developed wall will consist of professionally-made sensory equipment built to endure heavy usage and the English weather.

More information about CAFT can be found here.

CAFT also have a membership scheme open to all, to receive regular updates on activities - www.caft.co.uk/membership/

Visits are available for families or groups, either for two-hour visit or a two day residential, but must be applied for in advance to ensure children can be catered for - www.caft.co.uk/families/

Order of the Secret Monitor Donates £1,500 to Support Rossendale Hospice Care

Order of the Secret Monitor Donates £1,500 to Support Rossendale Hospice Care

On a chilly January day, Christian Alexander Givvons, Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler of the Order of the Secret Monitor, and Hector McDonald, Supreme Ruler of Bury Conclave No. 80, had the pleasure of visiting Rossendale Hospice to celebrate a generous £1,500 donation. They were warmly welcomed with tea and conversation by Grace Cole, Supporter Engagement Fundraiser, and Mandy Tierney, the Hospice’s CEO.

The donation will make a real difference, funding vital equipment such as syringe driver kits, nebulisers for both hospice and home use, and specialist beds tailored to the Hospice’s palliative care services. Alongside the equipment, the funding also supports the essential guidance and ongoing assistance that ensure patients receive dignified, high-quality care.

O.S.M. Channel Islands Donates £1,000 to Support Dementia Care Home

O.S.M. Channel Islands Donates £1,000 to Support Dementia Care Home

The OSM Province of Channel Islands presented a cheque of £1,000 to Methodist Homes for the Aged (Guernsey) Limited who run the Maison L’Aumone & Maison de Quetteville homes. The latter being a much appreciated care home for those with dementia.

£500 was raised by the Brethren of the Province and with a further £500 being matched by Mark Masons Hall on a matching grant. The funds are being used to purchase and replace some of the old chairs in the lounge. The new chairs happen to be purple, one of the colours of our lovely order.

The cheque was presented by R.Wy.Bro. Mike Le Conte the Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler of the Channel Islands to Bob Harbottle, Director of the Homes.
