Wednesday, 14 October 2026, saw the Installation meeting of the Arthur Murphy Council, No. 73, in the Allied Masonic Degrees. The Council is part of the District of Essex and meets at the Chingford Masonic Centre, twice yearly in the afternoon on the 2nd Wed in February and the 2nd Wed in October.
Pictured above, from l to r, are Br. Geoffrey Waddoups, Senior Warden; W.Bro. Michael West, W.M. Bro. David Hook, S.D. and W.Bro. Shane Clapham, IPM
Whilst a relatively small Council we have been fortunate of late to receive members from the Isthmian Mark Lodge which meets on the morning of the same day and has a luncheon festive board.
The meeting saw the Installation of W.Bro. Michael West, P.G.Std.B., Grand Tyler and Past District G.S.W. which was carried out in an exemplary manner by W.Bro. Shane Clapham who, in addition to Essex, is also well known to London Mark and members of the GMLOI.
The Council has suffered over the past few years with a slightly declining membership but, with support from R.W.Bro. Jeffrey Conway, Dist.G.P. and from Isthmian Mark, it is starting to recover. So, if you can get to Chingford and are a Master Mason, a Mark Master Mason and a Royal Arch Mason in any Province, and are curious about or interested in joining A.M.D., have a look at the webpage at Allied Masonic Degrees or contact Michael West at This email address is being protected from spambots.
