JPrizemanDeputy Grand Master, R.W. Bro. John Herbert Prizeman

Brethren, welcome to this March Communication of Mark Grand Lodge and to this special meeting where the focus has been on the work of the Mark Benevolent Fund and the charities that the trustees, on your behalf, have worked with and supported, making a difference to the society in which we live.
I begin this address with good wishes, but also an apology from our Most Worshipful Grand Master, His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent. He will be with us at the Keystone Conference taking place on the 7th, 8th and 9th September when we hope to welcome representatives of some 40 Mark Grand Lodges and Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapters who work the Mark degree. This will be the first such gathering for Mark constitutions from across the world and, it is hoped, will begin a three-year cycle of the conference being hosted at different locations around the world.

I am certain it will be another most enjoyable and successful occasion.

You will all have received an unprecedented joint statement from UGLE and Supreme Council, Ancient and Accepted Rite, on advice members should follow to try to limit the risk of infection with covid-19. We understand this advice goes beyond that issued by central government and Public Health England but, given the age profile of all the orders administered from Mark Masons’ Hall, we feel it entirely appropriate. The situation is under constant review and further updates to the advice given so far will be made when necessary.

I would like to thank W. Bro Martyn Summers for proposing the re-election of our Grand Master and Worshipful Brother David Hudson for seconding the proposition, and you brethren for so warmly supporting that proposition, which clearly demonstrates how much you appreciate all that our Grand Master does for us.

We have again re-elected our Grand Treasurer, Right Worshipful Brother John Howitt, I work very closely with our Grand Treasurer and very much appreciate all that he does for us. He is very dedicated and I am very pleased that he has agreed to continue to serve as our Grand Treasurer.

I trust you have found the presentations from our speakers interesting and informative. I will not extend this address longer than necessary as I am aware our guests will be enjoying some hospitality not far from this Grand Temple, waiting for us to join them, so I will now proceed to welcome our distinguished visitors and members of our Districts Overseas but I would ask that your applause is kept until I have completed my introductions.

We welcome (noting that a number of honoured guests have not made it today):

R.W. Bro. Paul Clement, the Most Eminent and Supreme Grand Master of the Great Priory of the United Religious Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple.
R.W. Bro. Alan Englefield, P.G.S.W., Sovereign Grand Commander of the Ancient and Accepted Rite, and
